The Province of Rieti Tourist Board Presents the Saint Francis Walk at the FITUR in Madrid

February 1, 2004, saw the closing of one of the most important trade fairs in the area of tourism in Europe, the FITUR, the Spanish Tourism Trade Fair.

The most important tourist offers of the Regione Lazio. were presented at the FITUR. The Province of Rieti Tourist Board was invited by the Regional Tourism Office and Rieti Councillor Luigi Ciaramelletti.

One of the highlights at the event was the official presentation of the Saint Francis Walk that raised much interest among the participants that included some of the most important tour operators in Spain, specialized tourism press, the General Consul of Italy in Spain, Fabrizio De Agostini, the Director of the RAI in Madrid and the Director of ENIT (National Italian Tourist Bureau), dott. Nocchi.
The presentation of the Walk was given by the creator of the project, the Director of the Province of Rieti Tourist Board, Diego Di Paolo with the participation of Sandro Ciccaglioni.

The great interest expressed for the project is due to Spain’s knowledge of the impact the Walk can have on tourism. Their own Santiago de Campostela Pilgrimage is a consolidated attraction that has flourished in Spain for years as the predominant aspect of their ecological, natural and spiritual tourism.

During the evening the black truffle, a local product, was also presented by the President of the Associazione Europea dei Cavatori di Tartufo (The European Association of Truffle Growers), Domenico Bigioni, who created the Via Europea del Tartufo that includes the Province of Rieti.
