The Sabine area goes out for sports! |

For many years the Rieti province has made sports an area in which to invest
resources. The territory is rich with high-level equipment for a lot of different
of sports: from horseback riding to water skiing, from volleyball to basketball,
from gymnastics to roller-skating.
The mountains that circle Rieti, from Mount Terminillo to the chains around Leonessa,
are wonderful areas for winter sports. |
The elevation
at Terminillo is also ideal for training: athletes at international
levels come from all over the world to compete on this high-ground
athletic field at the “Cinque Confini” area of Terminillo.
The Rieti skies are well known for glider sports, with just the right
air currents that animate this sport, which draws enthusiasts of
this sport from all over Italy and the world. The Rieti valley is
also an ideal place for paragliding and hang-gliding.
The abundance of lakes, rivers and streams, permits the facilities
of the territory to offer a vast range of water sports: canoeing,
kayaking, hydro speed, canyoning, rafting and many others.
Mountain-bike, hiking, and mountain climbing find unrepeatable scenes
between the peaks, hills and countryside of our land.
Rieti is also a theatre of large sports eventi, throughout the year,
such as the International Gymnastics Event, (where world records
were scored), the traditional “Coppa Carotti” automobile
race, the Amatrice-Configno International Foot-race, and the “Coppa
Città di Rieti” Gliding Championships.
